Trends also influence the flower bulbs, plants, and woody plants used in public green spaces. These trends are often more (socially) societal and less about colour and material perception. A landscaper has more connections with trends affecting, for example, the inert materials used in their design and layout.

A breeder often has a long way to go before having a marketable end product. Responding to trends is therefore not easy. The approach often remains broad in terms of colours and plant appearances, ensuring there are always connections in the offered assortment and trends. New summer catalogue Verver Export
The new summer catalogue 2024-2025 is filled with new concepts and cultivars. For creative designers among you, we have a wide range of summer-flowering bulb and tuberous plants that are a great addition to a mixed border with annual plants or as annual eye-catchers in a permanent planting.

For green workers who prefer choices tested in various conditions, we have our well-known concept Summer Trams. Ready-made borders in different colour schemes, heights, and for various locations. This year, we introduce three new concepts: ‘Limachella’©, ‘Ratatouille’©, and ‘Trésor Colorée’©. These offer different combinations of colours and plants, with ‘Ratatouille’© standing out for its size. All concepts are for 5, 6, or 7 m2, but this new concept is for 33 m2. A real eye-catcher for a striking planting in the city centre or park. A guaranteed sea of flowers for the entire summer season.

Like breeders, we must make an estimate of what motivates customers to choose a particular concept, and we pre-purchase our plants and bulbs accordingly. If you have a strong preference for certain concepts, you need to act early. We deliver from pre-purchased stock, and we cannot adjust this estimate during the growing season!

Summer 2024
The current spirit of the times can be summarized in one word: crisis. From social unrest to climate crisis, from inflation to energy poverty. All these crises are interconnected and can immerse us in gloom, fear, or anger. But we can also take action. However, how we respond to the danger of these crises is personal. Will we fight, hide, freeze, or pioneer?

Trend Meaningful Earth

The concern about the imbalance in society, both environmentally and socially, is central here. This continues to play an important role. We increasingly realize that biodiversity and circularity in nature are essential for a healthy living environment. In this theme, earth is taken as a symbol of fertility and also of connection with history. A somewhat rough and rugged environment emerges, where brown tones take centre stage. This gives us the feeling of being connected to the roots of our culture. Different textures of materials are contrasted with each other. The forms used are uncultivated, rough, and sometimes even irregular or crumbled. This creates a robust and sometimes primal space.

Trend Viva la Vida

Due to the multitude of crises, there is a growing need among a large group of consumers to occasionally celebrate life and thereby shut out all the misery and negativity. This is exactly what this style trend is about. It is a joyous, exuberant feeling full of passion, expressiveness, and colour. These ingredients create a warm summer atmosphere reminiscent of Southern Europe but sometimes also resembling Central America. Decorative elements such as patterns, wrought iron, mosaic, coloured tiles, tassels, fringes, and ruffles abound in this theme.

Trend Gentle Paradox

There is, among other things, a tremendous pressure for performance, especially among young people. Combined with the multitude of crises, this creates a feeling of helplessness, causing some to seem frozen. Taking good care of oneself and clearly setting boundaries become a noticeable new trend, known as quiet quitting. Besides concerns about well-being, the labour market’s tightness offers many opportunities. This makes life contrast-rich, clearly visible in design. This unexpected contrast makes the quiet and sometimes even dreamy (outdoor) spaces exciting. Next to every hard or smooth material, something soft or textured is placed, as if constantly trying to soften the harsh reality.

As existing systems get stuck, we need to look for reform in every area. Experimenting and viewing everything from a different perspective are part of this. This also applies to design.
